There are many benefits to being a participant in Lotus of Life Chiropractic’s Nutrition Response Testing program. The most obvious, of course, is that it’s a non-invasive method for determining precisely what is at the root cause of symptoms. Knowing that enables us to create what is known as Designed Clinical Nutrition for you – eliminating guessing and trial and error when it comes to your best diet and which supplements will be helpful.

Lesser known about Nutrition Response Testing is that it allows you to figure out which foods, products, and even in some cases clothing and materials are good or bad for you, personally. One example of how this is so very helpful, is in the use of a grab and go breakfast that is actually nourishing. So many of our participants are on the run all the time, that the first meal of the day is often not something that’s contributing to overall wellness. The fact is, if the food you eat isn’t contributing directly to your good health, it is robbing you of it. Sadly, there’s really no neutral in-between there. The question is often raised – how do I eat a healthy breakfast when mornings are insanely busy? Many people like to make a breakfast smoothie, which we support. Smoothies are a great way to get 2 – 3 of your 5- 7 servings of vegetables in without having to take all that time chewing they require when they’re in a salad. We are always telling people they need to break their fast with protein, so when people are relying on smoothies, out come the protein powders.

We don’t object to the use of protein powders to supplement a smoothie-meal. What we have found is that there really isn’t one brand/type of protein powder that works well for all people. There is almost always at least one brand/type of protein powder that will work for you, the trick is knowing what that is. With Nutrition Response Testing, we can tell you. We will test multiple protein powder supplements to find the one(s) that works for your body. We’ll even test the ingredients you like to put in your smoothie, so you can know if the synergistic effect of all the ingredients makes your body happy or not. It is not uncommon for people to bring a couple foods or additives they’d like to use in to a check-up to help get a better handle on exactly how to eat. We also test cosmetics, skincare products, drinks, you name it. Think it might be causing some kind of issue for you? Bring it in and have it tested! There are so many advantages to having this type of care in your corner, we really can’t imagine why you’d opt not to use it!

One of the protein powders that tests well often in our office, is Standard Process’s Veg-E Complete Pro (chocolate or vanilla). Here’s Lisa’s favorite summertime Grasshopper Smoothie recipe with that protein powder:

Throw all this in your trusty blender and whirrrrrrrrr –

  • 1C liquid of choice (water, almond or other nut milk)
  • 1 dose (4 little scoops) SP Veg-E Complete Pro Chocolate
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 handful mint leaves
  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1 handful frozen riced cauliflower
  • 1/4 Haas avocado
  • a couple ice cubes
