One of the easiest ways to cram those 7 daily servings of vegetables and fruits into your belly is by blending them into tasty smoothies. Smoothies travel well, they can be prepped ahead and then only take a few minuted to blend, and when made properly, they are jam packed with mood, brain, and energy-boosting nutrients. Try throwing a smoothie into the mix a few days a week and you’ll almost certainly feel a positive difference. Here are a few of our favorite recipes to try (all are for one serving):
Berry Smash
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 1 cup mixed berries
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 avocado
- Optional – 1 scoop organic, non-GMO protein powder
Chocolate Cravings
- 2 frozen bananas, peeled
- 1 cup kale or spinach
- ½ cup raw cacao powder
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- Pinch ground cinnamon
- 1½ cups nut milk or coconut milk, more as needed
- Ice, as needed
Carrot Ginger Turmeric
- 1 large ripe banana (previously peeled, sliced and frozen // more for a sweeter smoothie)
- 1 cup frozen or fresh pineapple
- 1/2 Tbsp fresh ginger (peeled // 1 small knob yields ~1/2 Tbsp)
- 1/4 tsp ground turmeric (or sub cinnamon)
- 1/2 cup carrot juice
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (1/2 small lemon yields ~1 Tbsp or 15 ml)
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Quick & Easy Green Smoothie
- 1–1/2 cups ice
- 1 medium banana, fresh or frozen (may sub 1 cup fruit of choice such as green apple, frozen pineapple, or mango)
- 2 handfuls of spinach or greens of choice
- ½ avocado
- 1 ½–2 cups unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
- 2 scoops organic, non-GMO protein powder
- Optional – 1 Tbsp. MCT Oil
